Fashback Playlist: Best Rock from the 1990s
Grunge, garage bands, and plaid- I love 90s rock just as much as any other product of the 80s. Back when MTV was playing nonstop music videos with cheesy special effects and Bevis & Butthead ruled the cartoon comic scene- 90s rock drilled its grunge trademark deep into music history. While most of us suited up for work, a select few were able to slip into our torn camouflage cargo pants and rock out to the last true rock stars of this modern civilization.
In hopes of sparking some headbanging and blown sound systems, here is your list of amazing rock from the 90s in the best possible anti-ADD format- video, because every great 90s hit had a equally as incredible music video. Let’s dive into my personal archive of the 1990s rock scene in no particular order of importance.
Soundgarden - Black Hole Sun
Foo Fighters - Everlong
Butthole Surfers - Pepper
Pearl Jam - Even Flow
Smashing Pumkins - Tonight Tonight
Sublime - Garden Grove
Because Sublime is so awesome, I believe they deserve a second video. Here is video from a live performance at House of Blues circa 1996. RIP Bradly.
Nirvana - Heart Shaped Box
Green Day - Basket Case
311 - All Mixed Up
Music video by 311 performing All Mixed Up. (C) 1995 Volcano Entertainment III, L.L.C.
Chumbawamba - Tubthumping
Bush - Machinehead
The Hives - Hate to Say I Told You So
Hopefully you were able to part your hair enough to get through all of the songs. 90s rock will always have its place in our iTunes music selection…. oh yea and our hearts too.
